The Rowdy Electeds

Ok, I just had to post something about this.

As you know, the City of Fairfax has its own official band. It also has The Electeds comprised of the Mayor, three members of council (including me), the Commissioner of Revenue of Fairfax and Fauqiuer County and a great lead guitarist, Jack Hillman. We've played a few gigs including Spotlight on the Arts and the Fourth of July celebration. It's all for fun.

Well tonight the legend of The Electeds has grown ... Playing the Country Club Hills pool end of summer party tonight we were shut down. Apparently we were too loud and got some complaints, which prompted our City's finest to come to the pool and ask us to, politely, stop playing. That's right we were too loud. Or someone didn't like the music. It's no big deal. Actually it's kind of funny when you think of the irony that here was this motley group of elected officials getting told that, nope, we were causing a ruckus in the neighborhood.

The police were quite nice and we were understanding, stopping when asked and then packing up.

The only thing that I didn't like was that we were about to launch into "Gloria" by Van Morrison and that's got a great drum part I love to play. On to the next gig ...
