The Election is Over - Time to Govern

Thank you for re-electing me to the Fairfax City Council. I'm honored by your support and excited about the opportunities the new Council will have to help improve our great City.Congratulations to all of my colleagues who won re-election and Council member-elect Elie Schmidt.

After some much needed rest and family time, I'm glad to be back on the blog and will be communicating more often.

My focus is going to be first and foremost on economic development. Bringing businesses to the City, retaining businesses and encouraging more business-friendly policies will strengthen our long-term position in the region and in the country.

Economic development is vital, too, because it helps keep our tax rates low and our services high. We passed a budget this year that still maintains a real estate tax rate that is the lowest in Northern Virginia, does not increase the personal property tax and makes investments in services that people want.

There are certainly challenges, but I believe our Council will collectively pull together and do the right thing. That's the City of Fairfax way.
